The riots in the UK are depressing. What started as a peaceful protest against the death of a civilian at the hands of the police turned into a riot in Tottenham, London on Saturday night. Since then, things have gone from bad to worse. Mindless idiots of different races and ages (apparently an 11-year-old was arrested for looting) are now setting fire to buildings and vehicles across many major UK cities including Liverpool and Birmingham. Hundreds of windows have been smashed and shops have been looted. Many people are understandably living in fear and the police seem unable to cope. Thankfully, I live about 60 miles outside of London but I know people who live in the affected areas.

There's a popular UK basketball website called Hoopsfix aimed at promoting basketball in this country. Once upon a time, it was called "Ball Don't Brawl", presumably in reference to London's growing knife and gun crime problems. I always liked that name - it was catchy and purposeful. Anyway, it got me thinking about the riots in London and how this small minority of kids have nothing better to do than cause mayhem. Thankfully, as a teacher, I know that the majority of young people would never dream of acting in such a way.

If they're going to smash glass and break things, at least do it in style like these guys...

05 - Michael Jordan
Not just graceful but powerful too.

04 - Kevin Love
Ahead of Jordan purely because of Love's reaction.

03 - Darryl Dawkins
I can't decide if Chocolate Thunder is more famous for his suits or backboard-breaking dunks.

02 - Shaquille O'Neal
Ok, so he doesn't shatter the backboard, but this is my blog, so I'm letting it pass.

01 - Darvin Ham
Just emphatic.
